The winners of TDC’s refuse vehicle naming competition.

Earlier this year Torridge District Council launched a competition to name two brand new street cleansing vehicles that have recently joined the Council fleet.

Over one hundred entries were received with many unique and comic name suggestions. The winning names for the vehicles have been chosen by the crews, supervisors, and managers of the Council’s waste and recycling service and have been turned into stylised graphic designs and printed onto templates, which have been applied to the vehicles for everyone to see.

The winning vehicle names were Binderella, suggested by Carly and Freddie Tucker, and Lightning McClean suggested by Mr Lavers.

The supervisors and crews had a great time looking through the name suggestions. The vehicles are now all in service and stationed in Holsworthy, to support the Cleansing Team with various tasks, such as cleaning toilets, emptying litter and dog bins, and clearing any illegally dumped waste.
