There will be an opportunity to chat to Annabel and some pupils at the show about how the prints are made. Also sample blocks and plates will be there to view and she will chat about the process. You may want to try a tiny lino print or fabric block print and test out the press yourself!

Other dyed and patterned fabric pieces (cushions, banners, small items) will be on show displaying the craft of indigo shibori, blockprinting, screenprinting and dyeing. Some of the prints and items will be for sale too.

Appledore Print Studio – the background.

Appledore Print Studio, a printmaking studio offering paper and fabric printmaking classes to locals and holiday-makers alike, was founded 10 years ago by Annabel, a fully-qualified textile designer, who moved to Devon to pursue this dream.

The 8-week classes, weekend and daytime, have been such a success over the years that many chose to carry on with more workshops, buy a press themselves, have private lessons with her, and even set up their own businesses.

The studio also runs a mobile service and has worked with the Burton, Studio Kind, The Double Elephant, Barnstaple Library, Appledore Book Festival, The Plough Arts Centre, Barnstaple Museum, local cafes and more..!

If you would like to find out more about her long or shorter classes before the show please look on www.annabelhilldesign.co.uk/appledore-print-studio and feel free to also contact her on email: [email protected]. The 8 week paper and fabric print classes start in September and there are lots of fabulous day courses available late summer too, many focusing on the wildflower patch near the studio.

Appledore Print Studio social media pages are also available on Instagram and Facebook (same name) It’s very interesting and informative to view photos of all the prints and techniques over the last 10 years!
