Bideford Film Society; 12th/ 13th July.

The Bikeriders (15).

Starring – Jodie Comer, Austin Butler, Michael Shannon, Mike Faist, Norman Reedus, Tom Hardy, Austin Butler, Michael Shannon. Jodie Comer and Tom Hardy lead an all-star ensemble cast in the latest from writer-director Jeff Nichols (Loving, Midnight Special, Take Shelter, Mud). An exhilarating, full-throttle period drama, about bikers in 1960’s Midwest. It pays a clear tribute to classic films (The Wild One, Easy Rider), exploiting the iconic mid-century cool of the motorbike as a symbol of individual freedom.

The film follows the inner world of fictional biker’s club ‘the Vandals’. Seen through the lives of its members, it follows the club over the course of a decade as a love triangle spools out. As newcomers join the group, infusing the club with a new ethos directly opposed to its founding members’ original intentions, it prompts an intense power struggle.

Showing – Friday 12th & Saturday 13th July at 7.30 pm (doors open 7.00pm) at The Theatre, Kingsley School.
