Clavigo – built 1992; flag Antigua & Barbuda; owners German; crew Russian & Ukrainian; from Greenmore to Castellon; arrived 16/4, sailed 18/4; loaded 2,800 tons ball clay.
(The vessel actually arrived in the Bay on the 13th but could not berth due to neap tides. Arrangements were made to berth on pm tide Monday, but could not because of the gale blowing and the pilot boat had to return to Bideford).
In the news on Radio Devon on Sunday 7th April it was reported that the Oldenburgh had sustained a rope round her propellers whilst at Lundy. The passengers had to be accommodated overnight on Lundy by the Landmark Trust and the vessel towed to Ilfracombe by the tug Afon Alaw on the Sunday morning, arriving approx 08.00. Further report on Monday 8th; 79 passengers where involved, some of whom had to be sent to Ilfracombe for medical reasons via the lifeboat, with the balance returned to Bideford on the Monday evening about 19.30. According to the interviews everything was fine.
In the financial edition of the Daily Mail a report on the reopening of the shipyard. Three firms, one British and two foreign, are putting together an offer for a long lease or a joint venture with the shipyard owners Langham Industries. Another six companies have expressed an interest in building vessels at the yard.

1/4 from about 10.00 the cargo vessel Stellar Toledo, 16,765 tons d.w., owners Stellar Toledo Co Ltd Netherlands, anchored in Bideford Bay towards the east anchorage off Saunton Sands. She left her anchorage approx 15.30 3/4 and was seen approx 16.05.
2/4 At 11.40 cargo vessel Gundem Azra, 4,964 tons d.w., owners Musad Shipping Inc Turkey, outward bound from Cardiff having sailed at 07.00.
4/4 at 11.32 vehicle carrier Autosun, 6,670 tons d.w., owners United European Car Carriers Norway, inward bound for Portbury. At 11.55 container ship Demeter, 41,647 tons d.w., owners Puerto Varap Shipping Co Germany, outward bound from Portbury having sailed at 0741. At 15.42 bulk carrier Aasvik, 7,564 tons d.w., owners inAssen Bulk Norway, outward bound for Port Talbot. Also in the bay the small cruise ship Stockholm seen steaming towards Clovelley, where she stayed overnight and sailed the next day for Oban..
